HUMTOO gets tested!

HUMTOO has teamed up with the Lets Get Tested Competition. It's a great idea - their blurb is...

To enter the competition you simply have to make a short film about
the importance of sexual health and the need to have regular sexual
health and HIV tests.

You can be as creative as you like but there are a few things to be aware of:

Read the rules - Please read the competition rules before making your video. If your video breaks the rules it won’t be put up on the site.
Know your stuff - There is a wealth of information provided by our partners on the links page. The more you know, the more you’ll understand the importance of testing.

Make your film – We’d like you to be as creative as you can. We don’t mind
how long your video is, who you work with or what you use to make it -
let your imagination run wild! For example, your film could be a drama,
a documentary or a cartoon. It could be 1 minute or 10 minutes, all we
ask for is an engaging video that will encourage people your age to get
tested.

Upload your film – Go to the entry page to give us a few details about yourself and upload your film. Once we’ve checked that it’s ok we’ll load it onto our site for the world to watch. Don’t be a stranger – Come back regularly to check out the competition and tell your friends to vote for your video. And of course is you have a better idea later on – you can always make another one!

How do I win?

Once you’ve entered your film into the competition we will load it on to our
site where the general public will be able to view and rate your films. When the competition closes on March 31st, the judges will consider the entries. They will be scoring each film according to the following criteria:

40%
- How relevant is the film to the competition brief? (Does the film
encourage sexual health testing and is this message conveyed clearly?)
40%
- How interesting and engaging is the film? (Based on the judges
opinion and includes the number of public views and the ranking.)
20%
- Is the film suitable for general release to a broad audience?

All the finalists will be invited to a VIP reception where the winner will be announced.

Dates for your diary:

The competition will close at midnight on 31st March 2009. Submissions after this date won’t be accepted
Date tba - We will invite the top 10 film-makers to a special reception to announce the winner of the competition.
2009
– winning filmmaker will be invited to work with a leading British
director or producer to have their film professionally made.

If you do make a film for the competition, post it on HUMTOO in search of
music and it wil be eligible for HUMFEST, ie you could win a further
$450!!!

A new Tango console worth US$7490 up for grabs on www.humtoo.com

We're pleased to announce the latest project on www.HUMTOO.com. And the fee for the best track pitched is…drum roll please…the brand new Tango controller!

Tango is the revolutionary new intelligent controller from SmartAV the makers of the Smart Console.

Tango is a combination of a cutting edge control surface and 22" touch screen - combined and re-imagined to give musicians ways to interact with their music in incredible new ways.

For the music the tango guys are after, check out the Tango Demo Video on their pitch page. They're adding a new section to the end of this video in coming months covering the latest cutting edge music features that they'll be adding to the console.
So, they're after a 2 minute track outlining the style of music you propose for the new section of the video. They're after something exciting and upbeat but most of all cutting edge - something that shows off the spirit of Tango.

If you're successful, you'll get to work with the Tango guys to create the final piece for their video. Pretty cool hey?

They will pay the fee in the form of a brand new Tango controller (US$7490).

The HUMTOO blurb

We thought we should post something a little official-like on the blog, so here goes.

HUMTOO.com is a marketplace where content creators can post video projects that are in need of music. Music makers can then pitch their musical interpretation of that project and, if successful, earn the fee the content creator is paying for music.

HUMTOO is a meeting place where music makers and content creators can converse without the traditional barriers of geography or affiliation allowing music makers to earn money regardless of where they live or who they know.

All that is needed is talent and the internet.

With a large number of companies already involved and many more in negotiations, HUMTOO will provide a constant stream of work for music makers. With a growing community of music makers, HUMTOO provides content creators with access to potentially every musician on the planet for their projects.

What's HUMTOO all about I hear you thinking to yourself...well, check out our little video that explains how it all works...

We're all very excited about Humtoo.com - it's been in the works for about 6 months. It all came about a conversation between our 2 super directors Jason (a music composer) and Steve (a TV producer) regarding the challenges for musicians finding projects to works on and for producers to find good composers. After knocking around a few ideas, Jason formulated the initial idea of Humtoo and they've been busy fleshing it out ever since.

From that initial conversation they've managed to whip up the site and get it all together in just 6 months.

Humtoo.com is in beta phase right now, as we're testing a whole range of new features we'll be adding in the coming months, but don't let that stop you from getting involved.

If you're a music maker, get composing! The projects on the site are live now, the sooner you get your tracks up, the sooner you could start earning money! Also, you'll be able to get the domain you want - check me out - mike.humtoo.com!

And you Content Creators, get your projects online! We're hoping to get a huge variety of projects on the site in the near future - TV commercials, title sequences, TV shows, radio commercials, animation for websites, films, the list is almost endless. The best part about becoming involved now, is it's all free!

We want to hear from you, and we want to know what you think! Please email me with any suggestions for our site - mike-at-humtoo.com.

OK, I'm off to find some more projects for all you musicians!

Mike

Oh, and a big thank you to the team at squarezero.co.uk for helping us out with our explainer video.
