HUMFEST - your questions answered!

So we've a had a series of questions regarding HUMFEST so I thought I'd try and sort them all out in a post here on on our Blog.

Firstly, check out this short video which explains HUMFEST:

HUMFEST is open to any short film that is in production and looking for music.

To enter your film to be eligible for the HUMFEST prize you just need to create a project on the HUMTOO site, and upload at least 30 seconds of video onto your pitch. You will then automatically qualify for the HUMFEST prize (we'll mark your project in the brief so that our music makers know it's eligible).

You need to ensure the deadline of the project closes before the 29th of July 2009 as we'll be sitting down with industry professionals at the beginning of August to judge the films.

The Library is a fantastic resource for content creators to get their hands on our members music quickly and easily, and also for our Music Making community to earn money in the form of performance royalties. We've created this short video to explain how it works...

And The Winner of the Smart AV console is...

SmartAV have spent a long time trying to decide on a winner for the Tango project. The quality submitted was so high that in the end they couldn't decide.

Instead they've short listed the finalists - any of which they would more than happily use in connection with the Tango as musically they loved all 7, but they wanted more feedback in terms of which would be more successful selling their product.

So they asked us to help the make the decision....

We decided it wasn't really fair for us to make a decision - so we've thrown it out to the community. The 7 finalists are here on this project and the winner will be decided by HUMs.

More information on the HUM system can be found here:
http://www.humtoo.com/how-it-works.asp?HIWPageID=7

Whichever track has the most HUMs by 5pm AEST Friday 10th April will win the Tango.

This result really highlights the incredible talent amongst our music makers!!!

Good luck finalists!

You can HUM your favourite track here: (you can HUM 1 track a day...)

Humtoo gets some zzizzl

HUMTOO is excited to be working with zzizzl films creating three new projects on HUMTOO.

The first project is to create a soundtrack for the zzizzl's homepage animation.

The other two projects are to create stings for the intro and outro for zzizzl's films.

Dennis, founder of zzizzl films thinks this is a great idea. “By connecting with HUMTOO we are showing content creators that HUMTOO has a great community of music makers who want to make music for films and programmes. HUMTOO offers a much needed and vital service for content creators around the world.”

HUMTALK - March

It's been a while so we thought we'd take this opportunity
to update the HUMTOO community on what's happening on HUMTOO. We've taken on
board our member’s suggestions and we've been busily working on upgrading the
site. You'll notice a range of new features on the site, and we've a load more
in store - including upgrading the quality of video on the site and also
improving the messaging system (both coming very soon).

You’ll notice that you can now upload tracks to your profile
and then attach them to a project. You will find an upload track button on your
profile and on every project you will now see a pull-down list of your
available tracks from which you can attach up to 2 tracks at any time to a
project.

All of your attached tracks now feature a small "x"
in the top right corner for removing them from a project. You can add+remove
tracks right up to close of the project. The tracks that are there on close are
locked there until the content creator makes a decision. All tracks that don't
win are then released back to you. If your tracks are unsuccessful, you can now
easily attach them to another project.

You can now also mark each of your tracks differently by
giving them individual graphics! Speaking of graphics, we’ve been getting
creative with the way the site looks and have given it a major overhaul, check
it out!.

We've also implemented a new system of 'Humming' tracks,
it's a positive vote-style rating system for music on HUMTOO. Every 24hrs,
every member of HUMTOO gets one HUM which they can use to signal their
appreciation of a track. Nobody can HUM their own tracks, and there are no
negative votes.

To HUM a track simply press the HUM button on the player for
that track. Tracks with more HUMs go to the top of projects, and so will get
more visibility. So next time you hear a great track on the site, do the
community a favour and HUM it. If you’ve any queries on these, check out the
new how it works section on the site.....

This how it works will be updated regularly over the coming
weeks as new features are added to the site - so check in when new stuff
appears on the site for a full explanation.....

Also online in the new how it works section is the HUMTOO
Template Sync Licence. We've had our lawyers draw up a sync license template
for you all to use when you win projects. We hope it helps!....

HUMFEST continues. There are currently 3 projects on the
site in the running (Heads Up, The Barman and Enfant) and plenty more short
films looking for music are on their way. For more information about HUMFEST we’ve
created a short explainer video -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySaXUeF69mA

The Smart AV guys have been so impressed with the quality of
music for their project, that they can't make up their mind. This is truly a
testament to how talented you guys are. The quality of music submitted to that
project was excellent. Well done everyone!!! The deadlock will be resolved
shortly.

As always, if you're keen to hear about new projects when
they are uploaded to HUMTOO, send an email to newstuff@humtoo.com with
ADD ME in the subject line.

Thanks everyone and if you've any suggestions for the site
message Mike - mike.humtoo.com

Keep up the great work!
